In this fast-paced world, it’s easy to get swept away by the constant demands of our busy lifestyles. Deadlines, to-do lists, family commitments, all of this leaves little room for stillness and personal well-being. However, amidst the chaos, finding time for meditation can be a transformative practice that brings balance and calmness to your life. In this post I share tips for incorporating meditation into a busy lifestyle.
Start Small
One of the most common misconceptions about meditation is that it requires long periods of time.
Even just a few minutes of mindfulness can make a difference.
Begin by doing just 5-10 minutes of meditation each day. This can look like sitting where you are, closing your eyes, taking a few deep breaths and just allowing yourself to be present in that moment focusing on your breath, and feeling your feet on the ground.
As you become more comfortable with a simple practice like this, you can gradually increase the duration.
Establish a Routine
Consistency is key when it comes to meditation. But do this in alignment with your unique energetics. Not all of us were made for strict structure.
Consistency may look like a set time every morning for some, but then for others it’s more of a ‘somewhere during the course of the day’ thing, where you feel you need a moment of mindfulness.
The key is to do it on a regular basis, until it becomes part of your day.
Create a Sacred Space
While this may not be something for everyone – having a dedicated meditation room – you can still have a small, quiet space for your meditation practice.
Whether it’s a corner of your bedroom or a cozy nook in your living room, make it a place where you feel comfortable and focused.
This space will also serve as a reminder, and as you journey with making meditation a regular practice, a space like this will begin to feel like a very safe space for you to go deeper within.
Utilise Mindful Moments
Life is busy, and finding periods of free time for meditation can be challenging. During those days or weeks that are more busy, instead of waiting for the perfect moment, utilise smaller opportunities throughout the day.
Practice mindfulness during your commute, while waiting in a line, or during short breaks at work. Even when you find yourself grabbing your phone for social media scrolling, use that time instead for a short meditation…
These brief moments of reflection and mindfulness can add up and bring you an overall sense of well-being and balance.
Incorporate Guided Meditations
For beginners, guided meditations can be very helpful.
I have created a self-paced meditation journey that has been designed specifically for those that want to have a meditation practice part of their every day life. This journey comes with a guidebook on practices to enhance the journey, making this a beautiful healing experience.
The meditation sessions provide structure and guidance, and make it easier to stay focused, even in the midst of a crazy day.

Mindful Breathing
You don’t always need a quiet space to practice mindfulness.
Harness the power of your breath by incorporating mindful breathing exercises into your daily routine. Whether you’re stuck in traffic, sitting at your desk, or taking a short break, focus on your breath to bring a sense of calm and clarity to the present moment.
In my 1-on-1 Learn to Meditate Journey I share a few breathing techniques to regulate your nervous system.
Be Kind to Yourself
Don’t be hard on yourself if maintaining a consistent meditation practice is difficult, because it can be. I am honest in saying that even I find it difficult to do meditation consistently…
So, instead of becoming discouraged, approach it with a sense of compassion towards yourself. If you miss a session, acknowledge it without judgement and commit again to returning to your practice the next day.
Incorporating meditation into a busy lifestyle may seem daunting, but with intention and creativity, it’s entirely possible.
The benefits of a regular mindfulness and meditation practice in the midst of our busy lifestyles are well worth the effort – increased focus, reduced stress, peace, stillness within, clarity, and a greater sense of overall well-being.
