A few years ago my social media accounts were deleted, and although at the time it was quite shock, it was also a time of deep transformation where I learned about the power of stillness.

The conditioning…
On a conscious level we don’t even realise that we’re living out of alignment of the natural slow rhythms of nature. In ancient times life was slower. Nature also takes her time. We still have this blueprint within us, so there’s a deep yearning to return to this rhythm, yet with the current pace of life, the information overload and consumerism of the online spaces we bombard ourselves with every single day, our beings and our bodies have been conditioned to think this is normal, yet we can’t keep up…
That’s why we struggle and feel frustrated, why we are stuck and stagnant, overwhelmed, burned out, tired, and joyless…
Because we were never supposed to keep up in this way.
Our deep need for stillness, space, reflection, quiet and retreat still lives within us – and it still has the power for deep transformation and healing if we allow ourselves this space…
The intelligence
Even our bodies on a physical level still hold this intelligence.
Within every cell in our bodies lies the potential for total regeneration – when we give our bodies the TIME and SPACE to activate this intelligence.
Let me give you an example:
Did you know that when you give your body time (around 16 hours) to NOT digest anything, it switches to a process called autophagy.
Autophagy is a natural cellular process where the body cleans out damaged or dysfunctional components within cells, essentially “self-eating” to regenerate and repair itself. This process is especially activated during fasting, when nutrient intake is low and the body shifts from using external food sources to internal reserves. During this time, cells break down and recycle old proteins, organelles, and waste, supporting detoxification, reducing inflammation, and promoting longevity. Autophagy plays a key role in maintaining cellular health and has been linked to protection against diseases like cancer, neurodegeneration, and metabolic disorders.
So if the body and cells hold this intelligent process of regeneration and healing, perhaps our whole beings (our energetic bodies, our pscyche, our minds, emotions, higher intelligence), also need this…?
It goes even further…
Around 24 hours of no eating (so no digesting) our gut lining repairs and regenerates itself.
Around 36 hours our bodies switch to using stored fat as fuel.
And at 72 hours our immune system resets and regenerates healing chronic inflammation.
The parallels
We as energetic and spiritual beings are not seperate from our bodies.
What I explained above is backed by scientific research and I have a personal story and experience with fasting in healing my gut issues and chronic inflammation.
Therefore, for deep healing of being stuck and frustrated in our current lifestyle, we must create the time and space for it.
Stillness has power. If our bodies need it, our whole beings need it. We are spiritual beings having a human (body) experience.
The power of stillness lies in its ability to reconnect us with our inner truth amidst the chaos of life. In moments of stillness, we step out of the noise, distractions, and constant striving and consuming, and instead enter a space of deep presence.
It is here that clarity arises, intuition strengthens, and healing begins. Stillness isn’t the absence of movement – it’s the fertile ground where insight, creativity, and peace take root. In a world that celebrates doing, stillness reminds us of the wisdom in simply being.
A ritual for stillness
Stillness can be as simple as removing the noise of comsuming information (which is mostly mindless scrolling on social media), or really setting out some time for a retreat (even just at home).
The following ritual has been inspired by Gene Key 52 – which has the siddhi of stillnes, and the gift of restraint.
Restraint = focused energy, non-reactivity, calm strength.
Stillness = the unmoved mover, pure presence, timeless peace.
Activate the gift of restraint
Time: Before decision-making, action, or communication
Tools: Candle, smooth stone, simple mandala or circle drawn on paper
1. Circle of Restraint

Light a candle and place the mandala or stone in front of you.

Visualize a circle of light forming around you.

Say: “Within this circle, I choose calm over chaos. I act with intention, not impulse. My energy is sacred – I direct it wisely.”
2. Presence Focus

Choose one small task (e.g., making tea, writing in your journal, reading a paragraph).

Do it mindfully and slowly, observing your breath and body.
-
Let it become a meditation of single-minded focus.
Ask: Can I bring this quality of restraint to the rest of my day?
3. Restraint Affirmation
Hold the stone and repeat: “I am not here to do more. I am here to bring depth to what I do. I am the still point in the turning world.”
Embody the siddhi of stillness
Time: Early morning, twilight, or in sacred silence
Tools: Candle or bowl of water, silence, gentle bell or chime
1. Still Point Meditation

Sit in a quiet space.
-
Visualise a single point of stillness at your centre of your being.

With each breath, allow your body and thoughts to soften around this center.
Repeat inwardly: “Be still. Be still. Be still.”
Stay here, simply resting in this spaciousness.
2. Silent Light Practice

Light a candle or gaze into a bowl of still water.
-
Observe it without thought – become one with its unmoving essence.
Allow yourself to drop into presence beyond words, beyond doing. Let go of needing to achieve stillness – you already are it.
